Today a group of year 10 students had the opportunity to gain a valuable insight into the world of engineering and technology by visiting the BAE Systems' Samlesbury facility. The event provided a unique glimpse into the diverse range of career opportunities available within the aerospace and defence industry.
During the tour, students explored state-of-the-art facilities, witnessed cutting-edge technologies, and learned about the complex engineering processes involved in designing, manufacturing, and maintaining the air sector. The highlight of the visit was the chance to interact with current apprentices, who shared their experiences and offered advice to our pupils.
Jack P: “Today I went to the BAE open day. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I was interested in the company because my dad works at BAE Systems. First, we toured the workshop, which was really interesting. After that, we visited a lot of different stalls with various apprenticeship opportunities. This really opened my eyes to the different possibilities. Previously, I was mainly considering hands-on roles, but talking to people at the business apprenticeship stalls was really enticing."
