Garstang Community Academy have taken the ‘Lancashire Reading Pledge’.
This is a ‘Let’s Get Reading‘ year in which all schools, libraries and children and young people’s services across Lancashire work together to promote reading in all its guises.
We are all well aware of the importance of reading and how lack of reading stamina disadvantages children not only in exams but in their future prospects in the work place and society. GCA are supported by a steering group made up of all services connected with young people from nursery to 18 years.
We aim to share all our ideas with other schools via a Newsletter showcasing all the work we are doing to promote reading in our school.
