This years 10K was again a great success with 550 participants enjoying a break in the weather to achieve record breaking times.
Unfortunately the 2K Fun Run had to be cancelled due to water on the route and our thanks go to Garstang Firefighters who cleared water on one point of the course so that the 10K race could go ahead!
Robert Affleck, from Preston Harriers was first to cross the finishing line in 32 minutes, 52 seconds followed by Roger Wilkins (34 minutes 3 seconds) and Liam Crane (34 minutes and 26 seconds). Hannah Oldroyd from UK Netrunners was the first female, finishing the race in 38 minutes and 5 seconds followed by Vicky Bryant (40 minutes and 36 seconds) and Lou Roberts (41 minutes and 34 seconds).
The fundraising focus this year was to raise money for ‘Pitch In’, the GCA project for a new all weather sports pitch. In total £2,500 was raised, £500 of which came from the PSA refreshment sales – thank you to all the PSA who volunteered to serve refreshments at this event.
Thanks go to Garstang Ladies Hockey Club, the Rotary and the Lions and parents who generously gave their time to steward, together with Booths and Sainsburys who kindly provided food.
